The Brownie Baker is proud to celebrate 40 years in the baking industry! From the early beginnings, to becoming nationally recognized, the company has grown tremendously, through hard work, dedication, and always focusing on quality products, fresh ingredients and top-notch customer service.
IT ALL STARTED IN THE KITCHEN…
In 1990, Dennis Perkins purchased The Brownie Baker. Dennis’ background in sales and marketing, along with his contacts in the convenience store industry, helped him turn this small “mom and pop” business into a nationally recognized wholesale bakery.
BRING ON THE COOKIES!
In 1994, The Brownie Baker purchased Carol’s Cookies. A gourmet cookie twice the size of most others in the industry. Sales quickly rose, and before we knew it, became another niche in the market from which to capitalize.
MOVING ON UP!
In August of 1996, we moved to our third building in six years. This warehouse is 45,000 square feet of bakery and office space and we still operate out of this facility today! Due to brand growth and baking demand, 2017 called for another expansion with the purchase of a new 24,000 square foot warehouse with state-of-the art baking equipment and greater baking capacity. These were quite the expansions considering our first building was only 2,800 square feet!
BUILDING THE TEAM…
Starting in 2009, Dennis shifted his focus toward building a stronger team – bringing on Glenn Jones as the VP of Sales, Mike Collins as VP of Operations, Ryan Perkins as VP of Marketing and Jackie Ireland as VP of Administration.
SALES, SALES, SALES…
Continued growth from constant sales calls and numerous meetings paved the way for their entry into Save Mart Supermarkets in 2012! As consumers became more aware of The Brownie Baker and its prominent role in the baking industry, other grocers and convenience stores took notice. You can now find their gourmet pastries in Save Mart/Lucky, Safeway/Vons, 7-Eleven, AMPM, Johnny Quik and thousands more national and local retailers!
THE STORY’S NOT FINISHED…
In 2017 – Biggest packaging face-lift in our 40-year history! People eat with their eyes first, so we made our packaging just as sweet as our pastries!
In 2018, In our continuous effort to bake the perfect pastry, we knew we had to bake with the very best ingredients. Now, we are proud to offer the highest quality Nestle® Toll House® Morsels in each of our chocolate chip and double chocolate chip pastries.
In 2019, we introduced new co-branded specialty items, combining our soft, rich brownies and cookies with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups!
